What is OITAF?

OITAF – the International Organization for Transportation by Rope (Organizzazione Internazionale Trasporti a Fune) – was founded in Milan, Italy, in 1959. Today, the organization brings together members from 33 countries worldwide.

OITAF was established to unite all three key sectors of the ropeway industry within one organization: ropeway operators, manufacturers of ropeway systems, and public authorities representing national governments. By bringing these stakeholders together, OITAF provides a platform to address current technical, legal, administrative, and economic challenges collaboratively.

In addition, OITAF includes research institutions such as universities, academies, and laboratories, as well as individual experts whose professional work or academic interest lies in the field of ropeway transportation.
